Research Interests (In Japanese)

これまでの研究内容の概要

　生物多様性をキーワードとして、海洋や汽水域に生息する甲殻類をはじめとする無脊椎動物マクロベントスを材料に研究を行っています。
　行動生態学の研究では、十脚甲殻類の配偶様式や社会行動を調べています。個体群生態学の研究では潮間帯性ヤドカリ類の、巻貝貝殻をはじめとする資源利用とその動態を中心に調べています。またヤドカリ類の多種共存システムの研究を行っています。群集生態学の研究では、岩礁潮間帯性マクロベントスの帯状分布構造と種多様性を調べています。
　系統分類学の研究では、日本と周辺海域および西太平洋からインド洋に生息するヤドカリ類の分類を調べています。また形態的には区別し難いが生殖隔離のなされている同胞種の研究を行っています。
　保全生物学の研究では、海洋帰化動物の生息状況、海洋から淡水に回遊する種の生息状況とその保全について研究しています。

1. 生物多様性の挙動

　個体群動態と生活史学：潮間帯性甲殻類の生活史、個体群動態、幼生定着機構とその阻害要因、脱皮成長様式とその雌雄差、資源利用様式とその雌雄差、資源をめぐる種内競争、生残率の雌雄差の研究を行っている。

 　種間関係とその動態：岩礁潮間帯産甲殻類について、多種共存システム、種間の生息地と資源利用の違い、種間攻撃行動と種間競争に関する研究を行っている。

 　行動生態学：甲殻類の社会的行動（配偶様式、ディスプレイ、攻撃行動）の研究を行った。雌雄の行動様式の違いとそれから生ずる個体群内の役割に関して研究を行った。社会構造の進化の一般法則を見い出すべく、その体系化を目指している。

2．生物多様性のあり方と歴史性

　系統分類・生物相成立に関する国際共同プロジェクト：地球生命の源である暖温帯〜熱帯海域を中心に研究を行った。日本・米国・北マリアナ連邦の共同研究チームを組織し、関東、伊豆―小笠原―マリアナに至る南北3000 kmの島列に生息する動植物の種多様性、緯度的変異、生物相成立に関する研究を行い、1992年世界初の北マリアナ無人島群総合学術調査を行った。採集生物は国内外の100名以上の研究者によって研究され多数の新種記載を含む新知見が、60本あまりの論文として出版されている。

　インド―西太平洋域の甲殻類の分類学的研究：世界の大型自然史博物館が管理する大規模Expedition標本、例えばAlbatross号世界周遊航海、Challenger号世界周遊航海、また近年の航海調査、例えばCampagnes MUSORSTOM、Diversification in the Tropical Pacific, Pacific Biological Survey, PANGLAO等の調査研究で採集された標本を調べ、インド―西太平洋域を対象に甲殻類の系統分類の研究を行っている。

　深海性甲殻類の分類学的研究：東京大学、長崎大学、広島大学などの調査船で採集された深海、超深海の稀少甲殻類の系統分類の研究を行っている。

　分子系統地理学：平成19年より首都大学東京集団進化遺伝学研究室との共同研究で、温帯域潮間帯甲殻類の種分化プロセスをmtDNA・核DNAをマーカーとして、冷帯域・熱帯域から温帯域への侵入、Amphi-Pacific分布種、Amphi-polar分布種、sibling speciesの分子系統地理研究をスタートさせた。今後それらの生態的、行動的違いをも調べ、総合的な種分化機構の解明を目指す。
